Job Category: Technical Writer
Job Number: 25371
Workplace Type: Hybrid
Job Description
Compensation: DOE
This role sits within a centralized city technology group responsible for supporting major operational systems and providing technology services used by residents, businesses, and internal teams. The position is part of the security organization, which guides and coordinates cybersecurity initiatives and works closely with leadership on long-range planning, policy development, awareness efforts, and reporting.
The Documentation & Policy Specialist will report to the manager overseeing cyber strategy and planning efforts. That team partners closely with the Chief Information Security Officer and focuses on areas such as security governance, policy and standards development, education and outreach, tooling support, and the creation of metrics used across the organization.
Role Focus
Most of the work centers on shaping and maintaining the documents that support the Security Office’s governance efforts—policies, standards, procedures, playbooks, and related materials. The role also contributes to internal communications, website updates, training content, and periodic reports. To do this, the specialist gathers technical insights from engineers, analysts, and subject-matter experts and translates them into clear, approachable documentation using established templates and guidelines.
The job requires balancing independence with collaboration: identifying what information is needed, interviewing stakeholders, producing drafts, validating accuracy, and ensuring materials align with organizational goals and legal or regulatory requirements. The content must be understandable to a broad internal audience while still being thorough and precise.
Key Responsibilities
We look forward to reviewing your application. We encourage everyone to apply - even if every box isn’t checked for what you are looking for or what is required.
