Job Description

Compensation: $125 - 145K DOE
On-Site: Hybrid work schedule, Located in FL
Electrical engineer Role:
Design state-of-the-art products utilizing embedded vision system, microprocessors, microcontrollers, A/D interfaces, low voltage analog/digital logic circuitry, DC/DC power supplies, and DC Motor Driver Circuitry. Candidate will design, debug, and test prototype components and circuit card assemblies while working in a cross-functional organization. Product designs involve the combination of optoelectronics, analog & digital design for interfacing to PC's and SBC’s via USB, PCI, and Ethernet, as well as other common computer protocols.
 
Candidates must be capable of high-level, project-oriented system design and analysis. The role requires the ability to take ownership of and be responsible for many simultaneous system deliverables. This includes project planning, design, implementation, testing, documentation, validation and support.
 
DUTIES:
  • Designs electronic circuits, subsystems, systems, and products.  Layout Circuits and systems vary in complexity: may include analog, digital, microprocessor, high voltage/power circuitry, and DC Motor Driver Circuitry at both the schematic capture and PCB layout stages of development.
  • Writes test plans and performs evaluation testing as part of the design process.  These electronic components may interface with mechanical components. 
  • Provides technical support for existing products, including quality assessment, failure analysis, and product improvement activities.
  • Provides technical guidance, serves as a point of contact or business liaison, prepares briefings for senior management and assists in problem resolution specific to the program/project.
  • Assists in the review and approval of subcontractor plans, including specifications and objectives, work breakdown structure, detailed scope descriptions and schedules, risk management, milestone descriptions, budgets and staffing decisions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Circuit design, Firmware, and PCB layout practices
  • Familiar  with Schematic capture and Circuit simulation tools (Pspice, Altium)
  • Exposure to at least one high level programming language (C++, C#)
  • Experience with taking a design from concept to mass production
Preferred Experience: 
  • Familiarity with Data Analysis Tools (Matlab, Mathcad)
  • Knowledgeable of grounding, noise mitigation, EMI reduction techniques
  • Experience with designing for CE, FCC, TUV, UKCA and other certifying bodies
  • General Engineering
    • Design and layout of multilayer SMD/thru-hole mixed signal PCBs Up to 8 layers using Altuim Designer or equivalent.
    • Hand soldering and rework to troubleshoot and augmentation/prototyping of designs.
    • Power Supply design to support analog & digital circuitry and experience with low noise & moderate bandwidth PCB layout & implementation
    • Experience with single and multi-element optical detectors (i.e. Photodiodes, CMOS detectors, and CCD's) and their readout circuits is a plus
    • Experience with Camera vision systems is a major plus
    • Familiarity with optical sources (lamps, lasers, LEDs, etc.) and their drive circuits a plus
  • Digital Design
    • Detailed knowledge on digital MEMS sensors such as IMU, INU, Temp, pressure, humidity sensors.
    • Design products that will use industry standard data interfaces such as: USB 3.x, 2.0, Bluetooth (including BLE), WiFi, Ethernet (100/1000BASE-T), RS-232/485, I2C and SPI.
    • Experience in ARM PCB layout and design is a plus
    • Experience in High speed Board layout is a plus
    • Embedded programming experience in up to 32 bit microcontrollers, Freescale processors knowledge is a plus
    • Competency creating test code in micro-controller/DSP firmware in C/C++
    • FPGA design, simulation, synthesis & implementation in VHDL is a plus
    • Interfacing FPGA to standard peripherals and microcontrollers is a plus
  • Analog Design
    • Analog Front End devices for input signal processing, low noise analog signal processing devices
    • A/D Converter Implementation: 12-18 bit ADC's up to 10MHz
    • Experience with signal conditioning of moderate bandwidth analog signals (up to 25 MHz)
  • Familiarity with Mechanical CAD Tools (Inventor or Solidworks)
